The Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame is a promenade in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin, dedicated to honoring distinguished members of Wisconsin's sports history. New members are honored at a biennial banquet. Contents 1 History 2 Inductees 3 See also 4 References 5 External links History The Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame was created in 1951 by the Milwaukee Arena (now U.S. Cellular Arena).1 It was created to "honor outstanding sports figures whose achievements earned them special acclaim."2 The hall of fame inducts new members every two years when it holds an induction ceremony to reveal a large bronze plaque immortalizing each inductee.2 The plaques were originally available only to paying customers at the Milwaukee Arena.3 The Wisconsin Sports Development Corporation (WSDC) became the owner of the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame in 1999. For the 50th anniversary in 2001, the WSDC constructed a Wisconsin Athletic Walk of Fame outside of the U.S. Cellular Arena in Milwaukee. There are almost 130 people inducted into the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame.
