The most famous Tarbela Dam is also in Swabi (near Topi town) and Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology is also located in Swabi District (in Topi Town). Swabi is the Home Land & the Last Resting Place (Tomb) of the Ever First Sole Organized Ruler & Statesman of the Ever First Sole Organised Vast State of the Mandanr Yusufzais . Captain Kernal Sher Khan Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider) also belongs to Swabi. His tomb is in Nawan Kalay(Now Kernal Sher Kalay). The Govt has established a college in the name of Captain Sher in Distt Swabi (Ismaila). Rani Gatt Buddhist historical sites are also situated in Swabi, which is under conservation by the Shewa Educated Social Workers Association.The oldest social walfare organization is The FRIENDS WELL FARE SOCIETY SPIN KANI in the village of TANOLY (MJUGHAL)The nation of great BABAR living in middle of the TWO k annals.The famous STFA canal which has been separated from Tarbela Dam through Mufti Tunnel flowing across Maini,Baja and opening downward to maneri land through 1 km Tunnel.This canal has become a great source of arraigation.The canal joints the old Malakand canal near village Bhakar,Gohati.Its famous for its Cool icy water thus people gather from the suburbs to enjoy the icy water in hot summer. Statistics Swabi is a district headquarter. There are different tribes residing at Swabi who migrated from Tanol valley in Afghanistan. Swabi is an agricultural area, the main crops being tobacco, wheat, sugarcane, and corn. The tobacco industry also provides employment. The district also produce one of the finest marble of the country. However, many people are living abroad as expats, in Europe, USA and Gulf Countries, providing support to their families. There are four colleges, one commerece college and one polytechnic college in the district serving the people. There are a number of private schools and colleges at Swabi. Main villages of the district are Kalu Khan, Shewa Adda, Shewa kalli,Khalil,speen kani, shiek jana, saido dher, ahad khan hamzadher ,Tarakai,Thand koi, Managi, Bachai, Mughal kot Sikandaray, Turlandi, Dagai, Kernel Sher Khan Killi, Mansabdar, Sairai Charbagh, Gohati, Saleem Khan, Maneri ,Yar Hussain, Adena, Ismaila, Chota Lahor, Maghuaz, kalabat,zarobi,batakhara, Kuta, Zeda, Khunda, Anmbar, Mankai, Bekay nabay, Jalsai jalbai, Kund & Toor Dheer.Climbing over the famous "Kandao"pass we inter in "Kandao Valley".The valley has lush green fields and sceneric mountains.The legendry mountain "Mahaban" is clearly visible from the valley.Famous villages of the kandao valley are Boko,Jhanda,Panjman,Pabaini. There are a numbers of NGOs and other local organizations struggling for the welfare of the community. Swabi has a lot of ancient and historic places, like Yousuf Khan & Sher Bano Tomb, Kara Maar Ghar, Rani Gut and the remains of Alexander The Great located at Hund in Swabi. Ghazi Barotha dam is situated in Village Gallah. The ancient history of Alexander the Great cross the river Indus 20 km downstream to this village. The ruins in the upstream mountain of Ghazi barotha dam, the land acquired for Neelab Town is rich in archeological materials, the historical Imran Kala is also situated in these hills. Round about 14000 canals has been acquired by the Ghazi Barotha dam. Main Clans Yousafzai clan are in majority whereas other tribes include Jadoon, Tanoli, Tareen, Niazi, Utman, Razar and Khattak.
