Jarrod Pieter Bleijie (pronounced "Blay-ee") (b. 25 January 1982) is an Australian politician and member of the Queensland Parliament. Bleijie was elected as State Member for Kawana on 21 March 2009, in the Queensland Parliament. He is the third member since the seats inception at the 2001 election. Jarrod was a member of the Liberal Party of Australia from 1998 - 2008 until the merger of the Liberal and National parties in Queensland. He is now a member of the Liberal National Party of Queensland.
Life
Jarrod Pieter Bleijie was born in Griffith, New South Wales. He is the second son to Pieter and Christine (née Cooper) Bleijie. He moved with his family to Caloundra, Queensland in 1989. Bleijie attended Griffith Primary School and Caloundra Primary School, from 1989 - 1995. He was Vice Captain at Caloundra Primary School in 1995. Jarrod attended Caloundra High School (1996 - 2000) where he was School Captain in 2000. He then studied politics at the University of the Sunshine Coast before transferring to Brisbane, Queensland to complete a Law Degree at Queensland University of Technology. He graduated in 2006.
Bleijie married Sally (Lennox) on December 20, 2002. Jarrod and Sally have two daughters and one son; Taylor, Madison, and Jasper.
Parliamentary Career
Bleijie was appointed the Shadow Attorney-General and Shadow Minister for Justice & Corrective Services following a Langbroek Cabinet re-shuffle in November 2010. He lost resposibilities for corrective services in the 2011 reshuffle.
